Still chugging down the water

Interesting starting point. I was 1.5kg heavier this morning than I was on Friday. I didn’t drink anywhere near as much water over the weekend. And, I backed off the healthy eating a bit. Still no booze, cake, chocolate etc – but Friday night Spaghetti Bolognese (Julie and I have had this every Friday night we possibly can since we’ve lived together Saturday night Tagliatelle Salmon Carbonara Sunday night Pizza and chips So not exactly eating clean! And sure, they’re not great for you, and I’m sure some weight would…

Day 5 of water challenge ends. 2.6kg lighter!

At first, I put this down to some kind of metabolic swing – but my weight dropped by 1.3kg between Monday and Tuesday, then another 700g to Wednesday, 100g to Thursday and 200g to today.  If it were a swing, I’d expect it to go up at one point (that’ll be tomorrow…)  I have to assume it’s a water retention issue. After all, I do take Kre Alklyn.  Next week, I’m definitely going to make my lunch sports drink isotonic though – just for my own peace of mind.  Some…

Day 4 of 1 gallon water challenge – going well. But have osmotic barrier concerns.

Headline first – between yesterday and today, my morning weight in was 400g less. So I’ve now dropped 2.4kg since Monday – and the only difference I’ve made is to drink this water (well, I guess it also means I’m drinking 2 cups of coffee less as well). But the more word gets around about what I’m doing, the more people are coming to me with their concerns. Today, a rather intelligent man warned me about problems with diluting my micro-biome, the acidity in my stomach, and the subsequent problems…

Day 3 of water challenge is over. No hilarious ‘caught short’ stories… yet

Actually, the main thing I’m picking up is how dehydrated I must have been before doing this. As I think I’ve only really had to go to the facilities once or twice a day more than normal. And when I do – it’s still not running clear. I have noticed that when I’m rowing now, I’m sweating a LOT. I’m always a sweaty exerciser though, so it’s hard to tell if this is worse than normal. Maybe it’s because my body has more fluid, and CAN sweat it out. (As…

Day 1 of Water Challenge is over

And how do I feel? Not really any different. Here’s the bullet points. It’s pretty easy to drink 4.5 litres of water a day – as long as it’s structured, and in my case, 1.5 litres of that is taken in through doing sporty stuff. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the water, or just the day to day changes in body (which I assume is more likely) but I weight 1.5kg LESS today than I did at the same time yesterday. I don’t feel any…

Drink a gallon of water a day? That’ll be easy ‘pee-sy’. (Comedy gold like that will ensue)

First off, I have to admit I’m following something that’s already been done. A lot of times. I read a fantastic blog post about this, and figured I’d give it a try as well. Why? Two big reasons, lots of small ones. Big reasons: I tend to blow up quite quickly currently on longer rows – and I wonder if that’s because I’m under-hydrated With the Devon 5K in three week’s time, I need to be careful about making sure I make the 75Kg lightweight weigh in. And though there…
