So it’s been a long summer so far trying to build power and strength back up, alongside trying to get back down to 75kg
A combination of lots of rowing, following the Fitness Matters Rowing Plan, with a few extra curricular 30min efforts then a focus on changing how I eat and how I train with weights means I’m getting there.
Weight is back to normal. And thanks to weights, training with @davidkingsbury, I seem to have toned up quite well so far. (No progress photos for that yet – I’m saving them all for one article).
Rowing performance is still building. A tweak in technique sorted out a lot of problems, but I’m still unsure of what I can manage. Take the last training session. 6 x1k at 2k + 5-6. Just didn’t know how to pace it. I know my 2k is probably not 1:43 right now, but I couldn’t face going any slower than 1:49/50.
And by the end of this, I’d say the RPE was 8/9 – so there was still room in there. Maybe I just need to suck it up and do a 2k without excuses!!
