I could get used to being a house husband. Well, apart from the ironing. I’m not good at that. But I’ve taken time off work to look after the kids during the school holidays – which has been great fun.
This week however, they were both at daycare as they wanted to see their friends. So I’ve had the week to myself! Which meant today I could spend quality time on the erg.
1500 x 5 with 5 min rests between. Taken from the Pete Plan. Though my planned pace was set to 2k + 9. It all worked out in the end, but a couple of the intervals were a bit off. I made sure to ‘paddle’ 500m between intervals, as I didn’t want to seine. However, I also made sure to stop by 2:30 so I’d have a solid, complete rest.
Then I tried this mknth’s CTC (cross team challenge) a few hours later. I could probably have done better on fresh legs, but I’m still happy with the result.
On paper, it’s simple and easy:
100 / 200 / 300 / 400m sprints with unlimited rests. (So technically I could do one a day if I wanted to)
But I went for:
- 100m (16.7seconds) 2 min rest
- 200m (33.7seconds) 4 min rest
- 300m (52.3seconds) 5 min rest
- 400m (1:10.5)
Which was quite satisfactory. A good first outing which hopefully I can improve on as the month rolls on. It’s a fantastic sprint session which I’ll look forward to repeating – even after the month is up
